Let’s be real — July heat is no joke.
And as women over 50, our bodies are already navigating changes with hormones, hot flashes, and energy shifts. Add in 90-degree temps and high humidity? We’re doing the most just to stay cool, calm, and collected.
But here’s the good news: you don’t have to suffer through the season.
With a few intentional wellness rituals, you can feel refreshed, grounded, and radiant — even when the sun is doing the most.
I’ve been building out a cooling wellness routine this month that’s simple, soothing, and focused on supporting my mind, body, and spirit. Let me share what’s working — and hopefully inspire you to create your own sacred rhythm of relief.
1. Peppermint Mist — My Midday Lifesaver
A chilled peppermint mist has become my new best friend. I keep it in the fridge and give my face, neck, and chest a spritz whenever I start to feel flushed or overwhelmed. It’s instantly cooling, and the scent helps clear my mind and lift my mood.
Why I love it:
Peppermint supports circulation and cooling, and it’s perfect for quick moments of refresh when I’m on the go.
Trina’s Tip: Add a drop of lavender oil to your mist for extra calming benefits.
2. Cold Water Face Splash + Jade Roller Moment
There’s something so grounding about a splash of cool water across your face, especially when followed by a few gentle strokes with a chilled jade roller. I do this morning and night to de-puff, cool down, and reset my energy.
Why I love it:
It’s a quick self-care ritual that helps reduce inflammation and gives me that fresh, rested glow.
LTK Pairing: Keep your jade roller or facial globes in the fridge for that spa-like feel.
3. Epsom Salt & Peppermint Oil Foot Soak
After a long day, I fill a basin with cool water, add Epsom salt and a few drops of peppermint or eucalyptus essential oil, and soak my feet while sipping tea or reading a book.
Why I love it:
It relaxes sore muscles, calms the nervous system, and pulls heat from the body — especially helpful if you’re dealing with swollen ankles or fatigue.
Trina’s Tip: Light a candle and put on your favorite jazz playlist while you soak. Turn it into a whole vibe.
4. Hibiscus Mint Tea — Hot Weather Hydration
Instead of sugary drinks or heavy smoothies, I’ve been steeping hibiscus tea with fresh mint leaves and cooling it over ice with a splash of lime. Hibiscus is known for supporting blood pressure and circulation, while mint offers cooling relief from within.
Why I love it:
It’s refreshing, supports heart health, and gives me a little ritual to enjoy throughout the day.
Bonus: Freeze it into popsicles for a healthy treat.
5. Morning Movement + Evening Stillness
During summer, I shift my movement to early mornings — a gentle walk, light stretches, or dance in the living room with the windows open. In the evening, I focus on stillness: cooling breathwork, dim lighting, and slow journaling to help my nervous system wind down.
Why I love it:
These bookends keep me anchored, even when my day feels full or the weather feels heavy.
Final Thoughts
Cooling down isn’t just about escaping the heat — it’s about creating space to breathe, slow down, and feel good in your body.
As we age, wellness becomes less about doing more and more about honoring how we want to feel.
So this summer, I’m choosing to feel calm. Cool. Centered.
And I want you to join me.
And tell me — what’s your favorite summer cooling ritual?
Let’s swap tips and build our own beautiful wellness toolbox, together.
